Although the gig was an 'all-dayer' I only arrived in time to see The Moment. The venue was well chosen (it had air-con and a bar) and there was a good crowd of people ready for the headliners.
Having only seen The Moment once, 16 years ago, I was intrigued to see what they would include in their set and how the new line-up would sound. Suffice to say, I was not disappointed.
The set included old favourites, a couple of the tracks from Adrian's solo album and those from the newly released EP. The set flowed well but could have included a few words from the stage 'cheers', 'thanks' 'this is called..' but I have complained after some gigs that there was too much 'chat' (get on with it) so I'll not be holding that one against them!
There was an energy and intensity from the stage which never waned and engaged those of us watching in different ways. For some (at the front) it was dancing and singing along. For others (further back) it was an appreciation of all that is great about seeing a band play live.
There were a few moments when the serious faces cracked, often at the end of a song or during the odd 'mistake' which brought smiles to faces both on stage and in the audience, showing that they were enjoying themselves as much as we all were.
The combination of Adrian's vocals and inspired song writing, some talented guitar playing from both Adrian and Rob and a highly regarded drummer is a winner and one which I hope will be repeated so that many more can enjoy. On a personal note, I can only say I wished it had gone on longer...
